CASE STUDY:

Our client has made large investments in a tier one ERP system.  They are growing rapidly, expanding both in the US and international markets.  Because of this growth, having access to key information is critical.  Their ERP system was only able to provide a few canned reports.  The ERP system did not   support the level of analysis that the CFO required.      SOLOMON TG was selected to create a platform for  financial reporting and analysis.

SOLOMON Technology Group began the architecture of an enterprise data warehouse solution.  Using Star Schema/Kimball methodology, dimensions and fact were identified that would support both high level and detailed analysis. 

The team choose Oracle as the data warehouse solution and COGNOS as the front-end BI tool.  Finance was the primary focus for this first phase.  Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable data was extracted into the Oracle Data Warehouse and then placed into COGNOS Cubes.  Because of the strict security requirements within this client, a process was developed to attach a cost center to each user and data element.  Users could only see data that was within their security limit.    Management is now able to drive from high level cubes down to the detail using ReportNet.   Future phases will include Operational data.
